The upside down kingdom that Jesus presents here at the start of the Sermon on the Mount challenges our ways of thinking--it was definitely not what the listeners of his day would have expected! This portion of scripture, that we have entitled "The Beatitudes" portrays a very different picture of what it looks like to be #BLESSED. Jesus encourages us to live lives that are pleasing to God, and instead of developing our own kingdoms here on earth, to surrender to Him and then promote his Kingdom. Then, we will live a truly blessed life. Then, we will "flourish."
