The Sermon On The Mount: Righteousness

Jesus continues his depiction of the "upside-down" kingdom as he continues his sermon. He speaks of the Law and the Prophets, but he doesn't say that he came to erase the law, or "ease up" on his followers in regards to their responsibility to the teachings of the Law and The Prophets, instead, he speaks of a HIGHER STANDARD. In fact, the people that had worked the hardest to define and obey the law (the Pharisees) were not meeting the mark of the standards he came to set! He declared himself as FULFILLMENT of the Law. It is only through him that we can meet the high standards of the Law. We must take on His righteousness, because we cannot meet the mark on our own.
